On the Day of the Meeting - Organisers arrive early!
Then there are ...
Many options are available from simply dialling in to a speaker phone to video conferencing or calling via computer or VOIP.
Part 4 - Conducting (or Conduct in) the meeting and the Follow Up
The Agenda - and avoiding the hidden agenda
Prepare one in advance and include all the key elements that will be covered in the meeting. There should be no hidden agenda – put your cards on the table.
You will have realised by now that there are more than 10 key things to remember when planning meetings...my little joke.
Part 3 - On the Day of the Meeting and Virtual Meetings
If you are reading this Blog, like in most meetings, you are probably wondering, "when will it be over?"...soon, honest, we just need to get over one more little hump, the end is almost in sight.....
Conducting (or Conduct in) the meeting
Whether running the meeting or simply attending there are a few additional things to remember (we are now well past the 10 point plan)...simply put, be polite at all times.
The Follow Up
Circulate a DRAFT of the minutes to atendees and a list of actions within two weeks following meeting.
Revisit the actions and follow up where required.
Set a date for the next meeting as soon as is practical.
Include incomplete actions in the agenda of next meeting so they are not lost.
...So the cycle continues but in a more coherent, happier and more productive way than perhaps it did in the past.
And one final thought:
Meetings are like viruses...they are self replicating organisms that can drain your energy....Don't get infected!
